Pupil Premium

Back

Background

The pupil premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after (LAC) continuously for more than six months. It includes pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any point during the last six years.

Pupil Premium (PP) pupils have been targeted for this money because there is a significant gap between the attainment of PP pupils nationally compared with the attainment of non-PP pupils. Schools are required to spend the Pupil Premium Grant in ways that they can show impacts on pupil attitude, attendance and attainment.

At Bickley, there are 33 pupils (8%) who are known to be eligible for Pupil Premium funding. For 2023/24 we have provisionally allocated £54,200.  Some of these grants are also used to support vulnerable pupils who may not be eligible for PP funding.
